Although my family moved around a lot when I was young, I consider southeast Kansas to be home. Oswego is 10 minutes from Oklahoma's border and 30 minutes from Missouri's border. It is map dot for sure; I graduated with 33 peers back in 2008. Growing up in small community instilled in me those “Midwest” manners. Everyone does know everyone else, and my heart gets nostalgic
when I think of star-gazing, shucking corn with my dad, or having dreams of traveling this great big world.
So what else about me? What makes me tick? Well, for as long as I can remember, I've enjoyed the arts. My whole childhood is a memorable blur of song and dance, and I filled up numerous journals with poems, short stories, and ordinary thoughts. Naturally, I went to college to pursue a writing career at ESU- it was then a toss up between Creative Writing and Journalism. Starting my blog in 2010 let me develop a stronger voice. It has since been a prominent piece of this journey after making the decision to go into Student Affairs. To
date, there are 130 posts on Life Scribbler. For the 13-14 year, I have had the opportunity to serve as Co-Editor-in Chief of MAGIS: A Student
Development Journal. After graduate school, I want to write freelance for a publication because I hope to establish and maintain a writing career while working as a practitioner of higher education.
During my short time in Seattle, I have: explored the surrounding islands, hiked, tried new foods- everything from Vietnamese to Ethiopian, helped plan a TEDx event, danced and raised money for Seattle Children's Hospital, and saw the Sounders and the Mariners play.
Other hobbies include: cooking, baking, and watching Jayhawk basketball (Kansas University).
The plan after June is to get a job, travel back to Kansas more, and maybe even join a dance studio.
