Artifact I was also an integrated part of the Capstone Seminar course (fall 2013). It was due in November, and I made revisions before it was due again in December. This document demonstrates the five following areas of understanding: positions I desire to be in, next steps, areas of growth in relation to the desired positions, areas for exploration, and professional development opportunities. The future improvement section of the NASPA/ACPA competencies helped me frame all of this. It shows my growth in recognizing and articulating my personal and professional need for working at an institution or organization that is working on efforts of advocacy, college access or social justice.

The plan I have developed addresses my understanding of issues surrounding law, policy, finance, and governance (learning outcome 9). It is one of my lower competency ratings, but something I strive to work on to gain more understanding because advancing in this career means needing to be more aware and conscious of the micro- and macro-level issues that impact advocacy, college access and social justice movements.
